New Dorp’s first Black Box show was Thursday, December 8th at 7:00 pm. As the many people in the audience ( including myself ) eagerly awaited the start of the show, our anticipation grew as more and more people crowded into the tiny Black Box Theater. Among those in attendance were staff members, Mr. Orlando, Mr. Stoebling, and Mrs. Carannante. After Mr. Stoebling got on stage to quiet down the audience the show began!

”I loved the show so much, I HAD to come for both nights!” said student, Yasmin Rodriguez after seeing the show.

This show was called ” Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon ” and as it started, narrators Kaitlyn Pellicano and Auel Kanaybekov came out and explained a little about the story. It was about the stories told…or rather collected by the Grimm brothers. They spoke about how the fairy tales we’ve grown up with have been “babied” by the Disney Company ( Referred to in the show as a “mouse” ). They also explained that there are over 200 stories in the book that they were about to act out. After many humorous remarks from the  narrators, some of which even involved the audience, then the show really began!

Overall the show was extremely funny and an event that was nearly a shame to have missed. Between the slight variations of the original fairy tales we’ve all loved as kids and the very funny, modern day take the cast has added on them, the show was an amazing way to spend your night. The entire cast showed wonderful expressions throughout, which made you think that’s how they naturally act. Not only were the scenes funny but they also told a story perfectly, which not many plays can do. It truly showed how hard the teachers and students worked on this show.

The next showing of ” Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon ” took place on Friday,December 9th, also at 7:00 pm. From what I heard, it was just as amazing as Thursday’s show.
