The EP titled Emergency Protocol consists of these five songs in the following order: Hopeful Horizon, Eternal Endeavor, The Witness, Song 4, and Chocolate Snow. After being published on iTunes, Google Play and various other webstores, on January 5th, minor advertising started to roam the school’s hallways; from person to person primarily by word of mouth.

“I say the band is forced together by our friendship,” said Joseph, Pull’s keyboardist. Roemello added “It is nothing special when we gather up together to write something new, it is like spending time with the people you love.” Roemello discussed how the writing process goes with the rest of the band as well.

It is obvious that  the band is very dedicated to their work.  They even have an upcoming gig planned.  They will be playing in Battle of the Bands on April 6th, 2013.  The event will be held at the Full Cup, 388 Van Duzer Street in Stapleton, Staten Island.  It will take place between 6:30 pm and 12:30 am.

On December 12th, a titan of a movie came to theatres.  However the main character is anything but a titan.  Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, is the main protagonist of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.  The Hobbit is a prequel to the hit trilogy The Lord of the Rings.  It tells the story of Bilbo Baggins who is a stay at home hobbit who is not the most adventurous guy around.  One day baggins is visited by Gandalf the Grey, played by Ian McKellen, he brings Bilbo on the adventure of a lifetime.

2012 was a big year; one hit was the rider on the invisible horse.  PSY is the creator of Gangnam Style.  This song was a huge hit in North America despite it being of the K-pop genre.  It was released in North America on the 15th of July.  It was the first video to reach 1 billion views on youtube.

The MTV music awards of 2012 was hosted by Kevin Hart.  The award ceremony took place on September 6, 2012.  It was broadcasted live from the Staples Center Arena in Los Angeles.   This was the lowest watched MTV Awards since 2007, because they changed the day from Sunday to Thursday.

Carly Rae Jepson wrote the big hit Call Me Maybe. This song became not only a radio favorite, but also a famous internet meme. Jepson is a Canadian singer who was discovered when Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were driving through Canada and heard her voice on the radio.  After becoming famous internationally, she was signed with Interscope Records.

“It gives the students the opportunity to perform and work towards a performance as well as to celebrate the holidays. It gives them something to be excited about. It is hard to teach when you don’t have a goal in mind, we get to play songs that everyone knows.” said Steven Pepe. Similarly to the previous years, the show will consist of a choir selected by Steven Pepe himself and a band.  The band currently consists of a few guitarists, Maxim Kleiman on the bass, and Daniel Bond on the drums.

“They’re ready for it. At this stage they’re ready for. I been  nervous the whole year but we pulled  through.” said Pepe.The band tries to practice as much as they possibly can; almost three times a week.  They are expected to play a number of songs on the day of the show.  All of the songs are based on the upcoming holiday season.  They focus mainly on the topic of Christmas.

As the practices go on, they continue to become better and progress to be more in sync with each other.  Their bonds with each other have been increased.

Looking forward for a successful show, “I think it will turn out good, hoping a lot will be there. It’s free, we are not selling tickets this year.” said Pepe once again.

Sing is an annual event that the school forms. Two teams, Senior-Soph and Junior-Fresh. These two groups will be attempting to outdo each other in a battle of originality. Each team must make a play from scratch and bring it to life in their own special way.

“I was prepared and nervous because I’m in charge of everything,” said Anglie Breslin, the director of Sing 2012. The members of the teams must practice for a long time with effort before the actual performance can take place. The process of training is very stressful for all the students participating in Sing. During one of the practice sessions of Senior Soph; they were having a lot of problems with lighting and sound. They also had some trouble with moving and setting up the props on stage.

On the night of the play, the performers must perform their creative acts in front of an enormous audience at New Dorp High School’s auditorium. In the audience, there will be judges that will judge their performance on various different categories. The categories include band, dance, acting and proper design. The winner of the majority of these categories will be pronounced as the winner of Sing 2012.

“It was postponed weeks later. It was suppose to be November 16 now it is December 6,” said Anglie Breslin as well. “We were more than excited to get it done back to normal.”

Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is a rock musical with a book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot.  Several of its songs became anthems of the anti- Vietnam War peace movement. Hair tells the story of the “tribe” which is just a group of politically active, long haired hippies  living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against enrollment into the Vietnam War. New Dorp Students are taking  ‘Hair’ to the stage with the same passion as it was on broadway.

‘Hair’ has to be a great broadway production to do in a high school show. It’s challenging, interesting and an all out great show to watch and the cast did an excellent job at performing it. With all the help on this show from students and teachers, This show was a huge success.

The show In my experience was very good. It was very fervent , You could actually see the emotions on the students’ faces as you watch the show. Henry Verner, who played Claude Bukowski really played his part amazingly, as did everyone else. The emotion of the show was the best part of the night. It could really bring tears to your eyes on some parts and laughter on others. The students and teachers really worked hard for this amazing show and it really impinged most of them and even some of the audience that it will be remembered forever. Kudos to everyone in and involved in the show, it really was great.

 “I was very  Excited about  this year’s production of Hair. The music is very challenging and interesting,” stated Music and Choral director of the show, Mr. Pepe. “Our talented musicians and cast have had a hard task of getting this show together, but I really feel that they have risen to the occasion.” With the help of Mr. Pepe and Billy Naismith the music really came together nicely in time for the show which was May 12^th and 13^th at 7pm.

Summer  Slaughter  tour  began  on  2007  and  is  present  ever  since.  First  it  was  mainly  performed  in  the  United  States  but  now  since  it  was  known  as  one  of  the  greatest  metal  tour  so  it  spread  through  Europe  and  in  2009  Summer  Slaughter  tour  has  been  performing  in  Australia  and  New  Zealand  as  well.  Summer  Slaughter  2011  headliners  are  Black  Dahlia  Murder  and  Whitechapel.  These  two  bands  are  well  known  for  their  vocals,  for  their  breakdown  chorus  and  mainly  for  their  brutality. 

“I  have  been  going  to  summer  slaughter  since  they  began  this  tour,”  Mathew  Gonzales  a  fan  of  Metal  music  stated.  “I  just  love  the  lineup  they  have  every  year  most  of  my  favorite  bands  perform  most  of  the  time”

Many  Fans  get   into  violent  acts  such  as  moshpit,  croud  sufering  and  such  due  to  the  bands  that  are  been  performed  at  this  tour.  As  any  tour  there  is  no  difference  that  can  be  pointed  out  when  compared  with  other  tours  such  as  Bamboozle,  Warped  tour,  Mayhem  Fest.  But  the  fact  that  summer  slaughter  became  more  popular  as  a  matter  of  one  year  shows  how  good  of  an  tour  it  is  compared  to  the  rest  and  the  fact  that  more  people  go  to  summer  slaughter  proves  a  point  that  its  worth  going  to  a  tour  such  as  this.

“I believe  that Summer slaughter  is  by  far  the  greatest  concert  I  have  been,”  Rob  Lopre,  another  fan  of  metal  music  stated  “It  was  mind  blowing.”

“I  find  kid  Cudi’s  music  really  amazing”  Jatiek  Long  a  Junior  from  New  Dorp  high  School mentioned “His  songs  are  mainly  about  life”

Kid  Cudi  did  not  only  have  one  hit  song  but  he  had  many  songs  that  are  hit  till  this  day.  Some  music  that  was  a  big  hit  by  him  were  “soundtrack  to   my  life”  “pursuit  of  happiness”  “Up  up  and  away”  “make  her  say”  and  many  other  songs.  People  intend  to  question  which  song  is  better  when  the song “Day  ‘n’  Nite”  is  compared  to  the  song  “Pursuit  of  happiness” since  both  the  song  have  this  bond  amongst  the  viewers. 

“Day  ‘n’  Nite  is  my  favorite  song  till this  day  by  Kid  Cudi”  John  Marie  CSI  college  student  mentioned  “It’s  still me  default  music  on  my  Myspace  profile.”

Kid  Cudi  will  be  performing  on  the  20^th  of  April  at  The  Roseland  Ballroom.  People  always  go  to  his  concerts  not  because how  good  of  a  rapper  he  is,  it’s  because  of  how  touching  his  lyrics  are.  Prime  example  of  a  music  like  that  is  “Pursuit  of  happiness”.  Kid  Cudi  mostly  plays  “Day  ‘n’  Nite”  and  “pursuit  of  happiness”  in  most  every  concert  because  that’s  what  his  viewers  mostly  want  to  listen  to.  There  fore  people  will be  going  to  Roseland  Ballroom  just  for  these  songs.

In the previous years, Bamboozle was mainly about rock artist and anything in that criteria. But over the years, it changed. They not only have heavier bands performing, they also have different genres, such as rap, which is always a change, but its for the positive. Some fans might not be too fond of it, because they may not be fans of rap, but due to the change, it will bring other different fans of different genres to be able to go to the concert.

“Its pretty cool how they can put different genres” says New Dorp High School junior, Nicole Romano. “ But it kind of sucks cause I dont want to go anymore, because there will be too many people.”

Another thing that Bamboozle does is that it lets merchandisers and designers let their products be seen by most. There is actually one artist, from Staten Island, that will be selling his stuff on Bamboozle. Rocco TheGreat, he designs anything from shirts, pins, posters, and even shoes. You can send him blank shoes, and he will draw on them, specifically designed the way you want them to be. He also does special requests for people where he comes to their houses and draws on their walls and such. His art has its own special design where it is differenciated from others. It’s nice to see someone from Staten Island, be in such a popular place as Bamboozle, to let his work be appreciated and seen by others.

“I believe that the last day of the show is going to be good,” says New Dorp High School junior, Naveen Grero.  “Most of my favorite bands are going to perform on that day.”
