Health Insurance has a huge part in our lives. If we ever get sick or need surgery or even a cast for a broken body part, when we have health insurance it take’s care of everything for us. Can you only imagine what a life is like for those who dont have health insurance because they can’t afford it? I can because of a movie by Michael Moore and my research. What would happen if you happen to have hurt yourself in a certain way and needed sugery to recover, but didn’t have insurance to help pay for it.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau from 2007 through 2009 the number of people without health care increased to about 6 million more throughout those 3 years. In 2007 45,657,000 people were unisured. In 2009 that number went up to 50,674,000. Citizens 65 and older are more covered then citizens 65 and younger. As you can see health insurance isn’t covering as many people as it did 2 years ago.
“Sicko” by Michael Moore showed me how horrible it is not to have health insurance. Not only can parents not get health insurance, but more then half the time neither can their children. It affected the way I felt about our government and the world we live in. It made me think about the many children were sick and their parents couldn’t afford to give them the kind of medicial care they need. A lot of people are moving to different states because of health insurance, the states that don’t previde health care are forcing people to move to a state that would give them it. This also makes citizens loose money. I think people should get health insurance wherever they are especially people who are sick or injured in any way.
CNNMoney states that the cost of health insurance has gone up 5% this year to $13,375. Indiviual cost of health insurance rose up 2.6% to $4,824. As you can see health insurance prices are going up, which is making it less afforable for those people who really need it. 22% of large employers and 21% of small employers are recieved a reduced price on health care. This does not help the most needy which are retires citizens over the age of 65. I think the price of health care should be reduced for everyone not just for those who are employed.
Health Insurance is a big part in our life. It can help us or it can defeat us, everyone in some way does need health insurance for injuries, sicknesses, etc. Most people who are not covered are very upset by it, I think everyone would be. We all need something to help us as we get older or even as were young. Something that we know is that and we can count on. But, if you are a single parent or alone, it is hard to afford health insurance. I believe no mater who you are or what state you live in Health care should be affordable and not questioable.
