For years the March of Dimes has been on a quest to improve the health of mothers and their babies. The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization originally founded by 32nd President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938.
President Roosevelt initially created the organization after the epidemic of “polio”. After achieving their accomplishment of curing most Americans from the illness that can potentially leave people crippled, Roosevelt decided to change their objective to helping babies fight against birth defects, arthritis, and virus disease.
On April 26th, 2012 New Dorp High School designed a bake sale in Cafeteria B to help raise money for the cause to help young premature babies develop and grow. The bake sale was run by the student union and volunteers from students all over New Dorp High School.
Jessica Kweon was asked about how the bake sale was going, ” The sales are great and the cupcakes are going extremely fast, its always good to help a cause like the March of Dimes”, said Jessica Kweon.
