Last week on Saturday, October 20th, the New Dorp Cougars played the Curtis Warriors at New Dorp’s homecoming football game. During the homecoming game, everyone was going wild on New Dorp’s side, expecting the win. Especially being that the week before that was Wagner High School’s homecoming game, and New Dorp beat them 22-6. Instead, New Dorp was very upset with the result, being that they lost the game 31-19. At halftime, the game was close, with the tied up score of 7-7. The game was close, until the 3rd and 4th quarter when the Curtis Warriors scored 4 times. They scored twice in the 3rd quarter and twice in the 4th quarter, and held the Cougars to score only twice in the 4th quarter.

“Bad defense could have been better second half.” says New Dorp’s football kicker Amir Mustafic.

What Amir said was true, being that in the beginning half the game was close and tied at 7-7, until the second half, where the Warriors scored four times and held the Cougars only at two. Not only were the players upset, but the fans were too.

“In the beginning I honestly thought New Dorp had the win”, says New Dorp High School student Ryan Van Pelt, “but then in the second half Curtis just dominated New Dorp”.

Curtis rushed for 254 yards overall, and 195 of them were in the second half, which was the main aspect to the 31-19 loss to Curtis.
